Workshop on improving energy efficiency in data centres
Data centres are not only a strategic resource and vital infrastructure supporting economic and social development, but they are also key to advancing energy savings and reducing consumption in the context of new infrastructure and digitalisation. To guide low-carbon development of data centres, the new German Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) establishes specific requirements for data centre energy efficiency, renewable energy use, and waste heat recovery. Similarly, China's “Special Action Plan for Green and Low Carbon Development of Data Centers,” has introduced targets to guide low-carbon development of data centres.
In this context, GIZ and the China National Energy Conservation Center (NECC) will co-host a workshop on Improving Data Centre Energy Efficiency under the framework of Sino-German Energy Partnership. The workshop aims to offer insights into the current state of demand-response strategies and energy efficiency in data centres, along with related policies and practices in both China and Germany. Moreover, German and Chinese experts will discuss how energy saving and emission reduction in data centres can be promoted to help achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.
