Business to Goverment
Developing innovative technologies and investing in green solutions, the private sectors plays a pivotal role in driving the energy transition. To leverage this potential, we support the German private sector by connecting businesses with government actors to improve industry and policy development in the Chinese energy sector. Our long-standing cooperation with China has built a robust network of top-level policymakers, industry associations, academia, think tanks and civil society. With this network and our expertise, we aim to improve the framework conditions for private sector from both countries to contribute to the energy transition, and increase the competitiveness and resilience of globally integrated value chains.
Our Business-to-Government Approaches
The Energy Partnership offers various Business-to-Government (B2G) formats to incorporate industry interests into the political dialogues. Industry developments and challenges are primarily communicated directly at the annual high-level political dialogues. Further formats include the Local Business Advisory Council, business roundtables and the engagement in project activities at all levels.
Local Business Advisory Council
First held in May 2018, the Local Business Advisory Council meetings are a key instrument for the B2G exchange between German companies and the German Federal Government. The annual meetings enable German companies to communicate challenges and barriers in the Chinese energy sector directly to German government representatives. The results are integrated into the activities of the Energy Partnership on all levels, including the political dialogue, business roundtables, and expert workshops. Topics vary depending on the focus of the political bilateral cooperation and developments in the Chinese market. Over the last six years, the topics discussed included access to green electricity, green supply chains, life cycle cost assessment, planning of integrated energy concepts, and implementation of decentralised electricity generation in urban districts and industrial parks.
Business Roundtables
Business Roundtables are held at least once annually and bring together German and Chinese companies, government representatives, and other relevant stakeholders. Each roundtable addresses a specific thematic topic or industry in line with the ongoing activities of the Energy Partnership. Participants discuss the latest sector advancements, identify challenges, and explore potential collaborations. These discussions not only aim to address immediate industry issues but also to foster collaboration and improve the investment climate to support the creation of more sustainable global value chain. Recent topics have included energy efficiency in public buildings, high temperature heat pumps, and clean heating technology.

Standard Development
